When I became head editor for the Member Relations department at PEC, I was thrilled in the sense that I’d get to be writing through the lens of the Member Relations Vice President Tim Nance. We had worked on several projects together beforehand and began building a great partnership. So when he proposed the idea to join his team and work alongside him, it was a no-brainer.

In addition to serving as head editor to all department communications, I had the pleasure of writing several internal communications for Tim. This was a crucial time in the department; there was a huge culture shift and shuffling amongst people managers. Tim was passionate about being as transparent, honest and genuine about the state of the department through the good and the bad. This was one of the most challenging undertakings in my career because I had to hone in on his voice, tone and candor — not mine. And I took that very seriously every time I crafted any form of communication with his signature on it.

One of his most popular, regular forms of communication he sent out was his monthly update called, “Tim’s Two Cents.” Here’s a few examples below of what I wrote for him, from him here and here.
